Frequently Asked Questions

1.  What is "accreditation"?

To maintain the integrity and quality of training providers, each national board that is part of the ISTQB accredits training providers and their courses. A training provider cannot display the ISTQB logo unless they have been accredited. The accreditation is based on coverage of the ISTQB Syllabus for the course and the experience of the instructor.

2.  Is this course accredited?

Yes, this course has been accredited by the ASTQB as of May, 2008.

3. Do I have to attend formal training before taking the ISTQB Foundation Level exam?

No, training is not required to take the foundation level exam.

4. How successful is your training in helping people gain certification?

So far, over 95% of the people I train pass the test on their first try.

5. When can I take the exam?

If there are eight or more people in your company that take the class, you can take the exam right after the class. However, this must be coordinated well in advance of the class.

Another option is to take the exam online at a testing center. You can find the current testing locations at http://www.astqb.org.

6. Is the cost of the exam included in the course?

The exam cost is not included in the price of the online course. For in-house and live courses, the exam cost is often included in the total price.

7. Can the live course be held in less than 3 days?

No, because the ISTQB syllabus specifies the minimum course length, which is 3 days with time allowed at the end of the third day for the exam.

8. Do I have to take the exam immediately after the course?

No, you can take the course later at a Kryterion testing center. However, if you are taking an in-house course your employer may require you to take the exam at the end of the course.
